Through the dynamic progression in the development of electro-magnetic communication tools within the last 60 years, our reality is enriched by plenty of additional - or meta-realities. The most powerful of these meta-realities is television. But there is no cultural, artistic dialogue, and if there is, it is a lamentation complaining about the power of the media and the common change in the state of mind.
This lamention is as righteous as ineffective. The normative power of fact in this issue is no reason to surrender, it is much more a challenge to protect the cultural factor of television against marketing specialists and soap sellers and to actively influence the rules of the media. Nevertheless art reduces itself as modern mass communication in self reproduction.
It is not only TV that has to provide space to art. Art also has to provide space to the TV. Fibreglass cables, CD-rom and computers are the tools of the third millenium, and electromagnetic appearances in meta-realities have become also potential objects of artwork as natural appearances have ever been.
The Society For The Preservation And Cultivation Of Endangered Electromagnetic Species targets to defend free space in audiovisual media and increase it.
This free space shall encourage a creative and passionate reflection of past and future electromagnetic species.
